Do you know the name of the Lone Ranger's horse before he found Silver?

, John Reid had a gray horse named Pony Hoss for eight years before he
became the Lone Ranger and found Silver in Wild Horse Canyon. I believe
that Pony Hoss was killed by the bandit Butch Cavendish, or a member of
his gang. This is according to the TV show, though... I don't know if
the horse's name was the same in the radio show (where the Ranger first
appeared), movies, comic strips, or comic books.
UPDATE: According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Lone_Ranger,
the Lone Ranger's earlier horse on the radio show was named Dusty.
