Cartoonacy!

CELEBRATE CARTOONISTS DAY!

I have some fabric that says Perry Winkle Fabrics on the selvedge edge and is covered with cartoon figures of girls and boys.. I am not familiar with these characters - I would guess the vintage to be 20's-30's. Can you shed light on what this might be?

Perry Winkle was the adopted kid brother of "Winnie Winkle" in the comic strip by Martin Branner that ran from 1920 into the 1990s. From the '20s through the early '50s, Perry and his gang, the Rinkeydinks, were pretty much the stars of the strip on Sundays. The Rinkeydinks also included the memorable Denny Dimwit. You can view a sample of the strip at www.lambiek.net/branner.htm.
