CELEBRATE CARTOONISTS DAY!

What were the names of the two overly polite chipmunks in the Warner Brothers cartoons? I'm not talking about Disney's "Chip 'n' Dale."

A takeoff on Chip 'n' Dale, the Goofy Gophers were named Mac 'n' Tosh.

Where is the best place to find copies of the cartoon characters the "Goofy Gophers"? Are there videos available? Are there any pictures? Any merchandise perhaps? Any stations that might play the old cartoons? Please help me if you can.

See http://www.toonarific.com/g/goofygophers-pics.html , http://members.tripod.com/~Nymh/goph.html , and http://members.aol.com/bruz2/vintageii.html . I'm told that the original "Goofy Gophers" cartoon is available on the video tape, "The Golden Age of Looney Tunes, Vol. 2," which is now out of print, but you may find it on e-Bay or from a used video dealer.

Are "Chip and Dale: Rescue Rangers" brothers according to the creator? They were together in part 1, "To the Rescue." It said they were brothers. Are they.

As far as I know, Walt Disney never said whether Chip and Dale were brothers, friends, cousins, or whatever. When they first appeared in cartoons, years before the Rescue Rangers, they were just two chipmunks who liked to annoy Donald Duck.
I never saw the Rescue Rangers episode that you mentioned, but if it said that they were brothers, then it's probably true.

How did Disney's Chip 'n Dale get their names?

From the Thomas Chippendale style of furniture (see http://chippendalefurniture.com.au/ ) and the fact that they were chipmunks, Disney decided that calling them "Chip 'n' Dale" was a cute pun.
